The Detmold Group is a leading manufacturer of paper and board packaging products with 6 manufacturing locations and over 22 sales offices in 15 countries. We supply to a diverse range of customers including some of the world’s leading brands.
Based at our operations near Ho Chi Minh City this key technical role will provide hands on technical support to our paper and board manufacturing facilities in the manufacture of our printed products including cups, bags, wraps and napkins, with an initial focus on cups. We are seeking someone who enjoys the challenge of a technical role in identifying and resolving issues through to successful outcomes. This role also provides the opportunity to coach others to further develop technical ability in our business.
Candidates will ideally have;
- Practical experience at the factory level with packaging and printing equipment so you will have sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment capability and associated product design requirements
- Strong ability to analyse problems and develop solutions that are practically sound and commercially viable
- An ability to communicate your ideas and influence decisions around manufacturing processes, and to coach and share knowledge to develop other team members
- The ability to communicate with external parties such as suppliers
- A degree qualification in mechanical engineering or other relevant qualification
- Good spoken and written English language communication
The Technical Manager's activities include;
- Coordinate and conduct production trials, analyse and review outcomes and identify and initiate appropriate actions
- Supervise the introduction of product changes and new products to manufacturing including ensuring the availability of all inputs and requirements, and ensure efficient and sustainable processes
- Understand and troubleshoot machine capability, raw material specifications and liaise with relevant parties as required
- Arrange and order tooling from approved engineering suppliers
- Undertake initiatives to improve product cost and quality
- Liaise and collaborate with Engineering, Product Design and Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement and external suppliers as required
- Assist the manufacturing team to develop standard operating procedures, provide training and technical support to ensure optimal outcomes
