Detmold Cartons are part of the Detmold Group who are a leading manufacturer of paper and board packaging products with 7 manufacturing locations and over 22 sales offices in 17 countries. Detmold Cartons is a small and agile business servicing the growing demand for small run cartons in Australia and offer an extensive range of products including corrugated cartons and packaging.

An exciting opportunity has opened for a self-driven, dynamic leader to join our business in a permanent full time position. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor will support the Production Team to ensure achievement of business plans and objectives in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.

This is a hands-on position, where most of the day will be spent on the shop floor.

Key responsibilities include:

• Day to day supervision of the production process, monitoring production schedule to meet customer delivery targets
• Assist with operational improvement plans including safety, 5S, labour efficiency and production efficiency
• Pro actively promote a culture of safety and quality
• Effectively manage resources and ensure machine optimization
• Be the first point of contact for quality concerns and conduct quality inspections to ensure product produced is within specification
• Assist with quality investigations and audits

To be considered for this position you should possess:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role/ leading a team
• Previous experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external customers
• Strong computer skills and previous experience using Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook
• A strong focus on safety and ensuring safe work practices are followed
• Previous experience in the packaging industry is advantageous as well as a trade background and hands-on manufacturing experience
• An understanding of 5S and lean manufacturing will be highly regarded
